What To Do After A Fire

If you home suffers a fire there are some important steps to consider while waiting for a restoration company and the insurance to come look at the job.:

• Don't move too much in the home to prevent soot particles from being embedded into carpets and furniture.
• Keep hands clean so as not to further soil wood and upholstered furniture.
• Cover rugs, upholstery and carpet traffic areas.
• Empty freezer and refrigerator and prop doors open if the electricity is not working.
• Clean and protect chrome and brass with light coating of petroleum jelly or oil.
• Houseplants should have both sides of leaves cleaned.
• Keep the HVAC off until it can be cleaned and filters replaced.
